7 arrested in pair of sweeps

ENDICOTT -- Two sweeps in the past week have led to the arrest of seven people described by police as heroin dealers or acquaintances in Endicott and the Town of Union.  The sweeps, conducted by village police and New York State Police C-Net, shut down two "very active" drug groups and led to 31 felony charges, according to Endicott detective Lt. Steven Noyes.  One of the arrests Thursday included a SWAT team operation to get Rowshanda M. Bullard, 26, from a residence at 724 Robinson Hill Road in Johnson City. Bullard was charged with two felonies.  Also arrested Thursday was Derek Greco, 26, and Kelsey Greco, 19, siblings who lived at 302 Cyprus Lane in Endicott. Each faces two drug-related and two conspiracy charges.  Akanni K. Amberslie, 28, of Yates Avenue in Bronx, was arrested Thursday and charged with 12 counts of criminal sale of drugs and conspiracy, all felonies.

A week earlier, Endicott police also nabbed another Bronx resident and two village men in a separate drug bust.  Frankie J. Capellan, 30, of East 140th St., was charged with five felonies for sale and possession of drugs. He had 50 bags of heroin and $600 cash when arrested, said Noyes.  Capellan and Daryll B. Michaletz, 24, of 521 South St., Endicott, were both arrested after a traffic stop on Delaware Avenue. Michaletz faces one drug-related felony.  During last week's bust, police also found 100 bags of heroin and $1,500 cash in the residence of Jeffery S. Demkovich, 23, at 1049 Taft Ave in Endicott. He faces three felonies for sale and possession.

Scranton man charged in video game store robbery  (Scranton Police K9 Yogy)

A Scranton man is facing felony charges after a video game store clerk told police he recognized the man who robbed him at gunpoint Saturday afternoon.

Anthony Marsico, 27, 1227 Rundle St., was charged with three counts of felony robbery and related charges after a brief standoff with police at his home.

The incident began about 12:12 p.m. Saturday at the Video Game Store, 1150 S. Main St. The clerk, who was not named in the criminal complaint, told police a man walked into the store and pointed a black handgun at him before taking several video game consoles.

The robber was wearing a mask but the clerk believed the man was Mr. Marsico, who had stolen an Xbox 360 from two customers at the store Friday, according to police.

Police viewed surveillance footage of the robbery and called for a police dog to track the robber. The dog led police to the rear of a home in the 1100 block of Watson Street, where they found several items of clothing that appeared to match those worn by the robber.

The police dog continued to follow the trail to Mr. Marsico's home, the criminal complaint said, where several officers had already gathered and were attempting to contact him by cellphone.

Mr. Marsico did not answer the calls, nor did he immediately comply with orders delivered over a loudspeaker to come out with his hands up. Eventually, Mr. Marsico called his mother, who told him to surrender, according to the criminal complaint.

In a search of the house, police found a black BB gun that appeared to match the one used in the robbery and several video game consoles that matched those taken in the robbery.

There was no information on whether Mr. Marsico was taken to Lackawanna County Prison on Saturday.
