Police dogs from more than half a dozen Southern Tier Police agencies joined the ongoing search for a missing Queens’ man Tuesday.
Brendan McNelis, 20, has been missing since March 3.
There was one indication in the Susquehanna River by K-9 Vago of the Binghamton Police Bureau. Detective Sgt. Arnold Nanni said the next step will be calling in the city fire department rescue boat for a river search, but weather conditions have not been suitable.
McNelis was last seen at a fraternity party at American Legion Post 1645 on the city’s East Side. He was in Binghamton visiting his girlfriend, who attends Binghamton University.
Authorities turned their attention to 20 miles of the Susquehanna River in their search for a Queens man who disappeared from a Binghamton fraternity party March 3.
“There’s not much really to go on,” Binghamton Police Capt. Duane Shaffer said. “But we’re trying to exhaust all of the investigative leads on the case.” “There’s nothing to indicate that he is in the river,” Binghamton Detective Sgt. Arnold Nanni said. “But we don’t want to overlook anything.”
Bad weather had twice postponed the search.
Recent rain storms increased the river’s level, making it difficult to search pockets of land in the river, Shaffer said.
