Snooze Leads To Drug Arrest
Reported to police for sleeping in a van, two women and a man are now in the Broome County Jail without bail on felony drug charges.
Alberto R. Almonte, 33, of Fort Washington Avenue, New York City; Angelina E. Reyes, 24, of Chelsea Drive, Cortland, and Adriana Quezada, 20, of Madison Street, Brooklyn, were charged Friday morning with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
A caller reported the van, parked in the Gardens lot off Upper Front Street. Binghamton Police Officer Michael Buemi and his dog "Harris" found more than 3 ounces of a substance believed to be Ecstasy, said Broome County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Mark Oliver.
The substance was found in the center console compartment of the van after the dog was directed to search the vehicle, Oliver said. The officers also seized $10,000.00 in cash.
